PowerUp America Celebrates New DC Fast-Charging Station
PowerUp America has officially opened its first DC fast-charging (DCFC) station in Manchester, Kentucky. Although the site became operational in early July 2026, the grand opening event took place on July 24, 2026.
Challenges in Infrastructure Development
The company initially aimed to launch this location before the end of 2025. However, the process of building new infrastructure proved to be more complex than expected, with delays in permits, financing challenges, and extended timelines.
Future Expansion Plans
PowerUp America is also advancing projects in several states, including Tennessee, Georgia (where 11 out of 26 NEVI locations are planned), Virginia, Texas, and North Carolina.
Features of the Kentucky Charging Station
The Manchester station showcases Kempower’s distributed charging system, equipped with four Kempower Flex Satellites featuring both NACS and CCS1 connectors, ensuring maximum compatibility. The site boasts a combined power output of 800 kW.
Designed for an enhanced user experience, the station includes:
- Exclusively pull-through stalls
- A covered charging area
- Additional amenities for drivers
